The Tale of the Chi!

I have been lost for months searching for who's know what.  Our life has been very crazy lately...full of downer moments lets just say.  We lost our pitbull Sadie Sue in September 2011, she was 13, we had adopted after we bought our first house, she was our first daughter, loved that dog to death!  It was so sad when her health started turning for the worst.  We searched online all the time for a new family member.  I love www.petfinder.com but we would go to look and they would already be adopted or not good with kids?!  So I was like ummm I wonder if anyone has a Chi for adoption?  They would go so fast in those pounds!  So unreal.  My mom adopted a chi years ago, from not a great source, so I was researching breeders, knowing full well how many bads ones exist and how it's all about money for them.  So I quickly came to realize there isn't alot of information out there to check up on breeders like a BBB of breeders.  FYI there needs to be one!  Just because they are registered does not mean a thing!  So I found a great check list online to make sure they were legit.  I ended up doing massive research on a breeder 4 hours south of us.  All the while thinking I'd never spend that kind of money on a dog or support a breeder! ETC.  But I found this site, she had several puppies for sale.  I would look at them daily, of course most puppies are darling, but this ONE stood out in my  mind.  I couldn't stop thinking about her.  So I emailed the lady questions about it all.  I started really getting serious about owning a new puppy chi! Am I nuts?!  lol  I never do anything on the fly not like this.  This is serious.  Owning a new dog, especially when we live on a fixed income, my thoughts I'd get a job for this puppy!  haha So it's one week before Christmas and my husband and I travel down south, yay we were so happy she's going to meet us!  While our daughter was at school we went and got a puppy!  We met with the girl in her car mind you, not great but it was warm and we couldn't take the puppy inside.  She was love at first site!  Ben held her mostly while I talked and got all the info, read through papers and a contract.  She is a great breeder, very on it!  so we wrapped little baby chi up and took her home. Ben held her for 2 hours that morning!  And she was all in love with him!  She gave kisses and was so sweet! The sweetest face you've ever seen!

We brought her home, had all the stuff: crate, bed, gate, food dishes, food from breeder Purina Pro Plan puppy for small breed, toys, a coat, a collar and leash...oh what didn't that puppy have!  Lots of love! Especially when our daughter got home, she was soooo happy!

Then reality struck me!  I freaked out and was like OMG what do we know about puppies? We had to house train her, never done that before.  So we had her in the kitchen with a gate and in her crate at night.  We had to take her out in the snow!  Poor thing had never been outside, after her shots she was safe so we started right in with the training!  I was getting advice and felt so overwhelmed that first week I thought I didn't want her anymore.  I cried and begged my family to think this over!  I'm not good at on the fly LOL But the breeder talked to me and was like this is normal sometimes it takes time to bond, if I feel the same in a month than it's not meant to be, puppies should bring good not stress!  SOOO after many days of everyone else taking care of her I don't know...my stress and anxiety faded and here popped out this lovable little chi.  I became a chi lover!  she is so sweet and sleeps with me all the time...snuggles, takes me on walks heehee.  Has enough energy for 20 people!  She is crazy sometimes.  Still working on the training IF she is taken out she goes outside! ha amazing.  She's super smart too...plays fetch, chases the cats even thought they hate her.  They will play but then they will end up getting a good wack on the head thump thump!!!  She gets them though!  lol It's so funny .
So Wednesday is 7 months now, 4 1/2 lbs., getting her long hair in.  SO darling!  She is onry as well!!!  Don't get me wrong nothing is perfect!  But she's pretty close!

So I will update soon!  With chi links etc!  :)
